Every year, on Israel’s Independence Day, we are treated to a country-wide fly-past by the Israel Air Force (IAF).
In 2020, the fly-past honored the hard work and dedicated services of Israel medical fraternity during the Covid-19 Coronavirus crisis.
This year, as things settle back to normal, the fly-past returns to its usual format and commences at around 8:45am on Yom HaAtzmaut and aeroplanes will fly over numerous cities and towns across the country.
The Hebrew word for ‘fly-past’ is מטס – MATAS. In English it also refers to a flyby, flyover or aerial demonstration

The aerobatic team of the Air Force will perform aerial performances between the hours of 08:45 and 15:00 over the following cities: Tiberias, Nahariya, Acre, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Jerusalem and Beer Sheva.
