Instructions for getting the flu vaccination from Kupat Holim – Israel health funds.

Nearly two years into the coronavirus more and more Israelis feel the need to get vaccinated against flu this winter season. Some argue that on the contrary, the wearing of face masks will protect them from getting infected with influenza.  Whatever your theory, this is the procedure for getting the flu shot from your health fund; Maccabi, Clalit, Meuhedet and Leumit.

The flu shot is free via your health fund.

The third phase of vaccinating the public against the coronavirus is well underway. Now it is recommended that the general public get their flu vaccination.

Vaccination is by appointment only – you cannot just show up and ask for the vaccination.  You must coordinate an appointment ahead of time.  There are three ways:

1. Calling your health fund and requesting an appointment.  The customer service representative will ask you for your teudat zehut number and your location. He/she will coordinate the vaccination at one of the health fund clinics or perhaps on the same premises at your city’s town’s local coronavirus drive-in station.  Upon setting the appointment you will receive a message on your mobile phone with appointment details and other necessary information.
2. You can arrange an appointment online after logging into your health fund’s website.  For this service, you will need to have your user name and password on hand to gain entry into the system and your personal medical file.  Select your city or town and choose one of the vaccination centers.  A list of available appointments will pop up and all you need to do is select the date and time convenient for you.  You will receive a confirmation message on your mobile phone.
3. The third option is via your health fund app – the procedure is the same.

There are two types of vaccination options – 1) the intra-muscular flu shot and 2) the nasal flu vaccine.  The nasal flu vaccine is intended for children but adults who, for whatever reason, cannot have the shot, are able to request the nasal vaccine.
