20th Maccabiah – 2017
The 20th Maccabiah is taking place in Israel between the 4th July – 18th July. Tens of different sporting activities from Basketball to Bridge to Karate and even 10 Pin Bowling, will be represented.
The very first Maccabiah was held during March/April 1932 with athletes from 17 countries around the globe. This year Jewish athletes from more than 60 countries, 450 clubs, and 400,000 members will be participating in the games and it is hoped that the Maccabiah will bring these athletes closer to Judaism and closer to Israel.

At 8pm, July 6th 30,000 Jews from all across the globe gathered together at the Teddy stadium in Jerusalem and brought in the 20th Maccabiah Games!! This year’s ceremony featured some of Israel’s biggest stars, top-notch performances and the traditional delegation march, involving the 80 countries that will be participating! Broadcast live on Channel 2, this year’s opening ceremony was the biggest one yet!
