There are 4 health funds in Israel, and you can register with and join any one of them:

Health care benefits & services covered by the law
- Medical diagnosis and treatment
- Preventive medicine and health education
- Hospitalization (general, maternity, psychiatric and chronic)
- Surgery and transplants. If medical treatment is not available in Israel, treatment abroad will be covered.
- Preventive dental care for children
- First aid and transportation to a hospital or clinic (see below)
- Medical services at the workplace
- Medical treatment for drug abuse and alcoholism
- Medical equipment and appliances
- Obstetrics and fertility treatment
- Treatment of injuries caused by violence
- Medication, in accordance with an order issued by the Ministry of Health
- Treatment of chronic diseases
- Paramedical services (physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc.)
Registering for a Health Fund
To ease your first steps in Israel, and in order to improve absorption services, it is possible for new immigrants (olim) to register for the health fund of their choice upon arrival at Ben Gurion airport. You can also register at a post office and can also change your health fund if you wish.
